Head-on collision near Forada sends one to the hospital on Dec. 2

The crash took place on County Road 17, north of Villard.

An Alexandria woman was sent to the hospital after a head-on collision on County Road 17, north of Villard, around 7:49 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Samantha Jacobs, 22, of Alexandria, was traveling southbound on County Road 17 in a Chevy S-10 with passenger Dylin Baker, 25, of Alexandria when a Ford Explorer, driven by Paul Carlsen, 66, of Forada, entered Jacobs' lane to avoid a stalled vehicle with a detached trailer, resulting in a head-on collision.

Baker and Carlsen were both treated on scene with no suspected injuries. According to the accident report, Jacobs was unconscious when the responders arrived. She was treated on scene by Forada First Responders and North Memorial Ambulance, and later transported to Alomere Health with serious injuries. Jacobs was later discharged in stable condition.

Responding agencies included Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Forada First Responders, Pope County Sheriff's Office, North Memorial Ambulance and the Minnesota State Patrol.
